Supporting Every Student to Succeed – Linked to our school motto “Each To Succeed"
At Middle Park State School, we are committed to ensuring that every student feels supported, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential. We recognise that each child is unique and may require different levels of support to achieve success — academically, social-emotionally, behaviourally. These different levels of support are documented in a framework called the Multi-tiered Systems of Support. At MPSS, we use this evidence-based framework to match students with the right level of support at the right time, using effective strategies and regular check-ins.

This whole school approach directs support to different levels of student need. MPSS identifies the appropriate level of support through analysis of student data and ongoing monitoring of student progress.
Our dedicated team of teachers and support staff work collaboratively to provide a caring, engaging and inclusive learning environment. The classroom teacher serves as the case manager for all students in their class, delivering Tier 1 instruction to every student and providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 support as needed.
At MPSS, we build strong partnerships between staff and students to ensure that every learner is known, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive. Our Student Support Team (SST), in partnership with the classroom teacher, plays a key role in supporting our students to be their best. The team meets weekly to ensure timeliness of discussions and tiered supports.
The Student Support Team consists of:
- Deputy Principals
- Head of Department-Student Support
- Head of Inclusion
- Guidance Officer
- Speech Language Pathologist
- Social Worker
The SST works closely with teachers, families, and external specialists to ensure that students receive targeted assistance and encouragement. Support may include adjustments to classroom learning, literacy and numeracy intervention, English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) supports, social and emotional guidance, or extension opportunities for students requiring additional challenge. These are all part of our approach to meeting diverse student needs.
Our school is committed to supporting every learner through a range of evidence-based instructional practices and programs led by our dedicated staff. Tier 2 and 3 programs will occur within the classroom environment where possible to reduce the amount of time that students are withdrawn from classroom-based learning. Where withdrawal Tier 2 and 3 programs are required, students are monitored closely using pre and post-tests as well as formative observations and anecdotal notes to assist with monitoring of student learning and success. Classroom teachers and members of the Student Support Team are constantly reviewing and adjusting withdrawal programs to ensure that they are meeting the needs of all students involved. Some of our current withdrawal programs are explicit instruction in Word Reading; explicit instruction with Language Comprehension; EAL/D Language Programs; Social Skills Programs; Feelings Programs; Personal Growth Programs and Counselling sessions.
Wellbeing is also central to student success. Our SST has a wealth of knowledge and skills to ensure we proactively support students' wellbeing through programs, counselling and pastoral care and assisting the teachers with supporting students' wellbeing. We help students build confidence, develop strong social skills, and engage positively with school.
Personalised Learning Plans are also developed, where needed, and it involves staff documenting support at an individual level. This support might be in the focus areas of attendance, behaviour, communication, curriculum, health and personal care, learning environment, safety, social/emotional wellbeing or transitions. Creating a Personalised Learning Plan for identified students ensures that the individual needs of students are documented, specific adjustments put in place and progress closely monitored.
At Middle Park State School, we want every child to feel confident, supported, and ready to learn. Our staff work closely with students and families to make sure every student has the opportunity to shine and reach their full potential.
