Our school library is always a hive of activity and is the heart of our learning community. It is a welcoming space where students can draw, write, play board/card games, read, research, and discover the joy of books. Whether they are looking for a new adventure story, gathering information for a project, or simply enjoying some quiet time, the library offers something for everyone.

Our shelves are filled with a wide range of books to suit all interests and reading levels — from Junior Fiction picture books and engaging novels to fascinating nonfiction titles. Students are encouraged to borrow books regularly, helping them build confidence and independence as readers. All classes have an allocated class time each week to visit the library to return and borrow books and celebrate the reading achievements of the class and students. The library is also open each lunch break as well as before school from 8:15am and after school until 3:10pm.

The library plays an important role in supporting classroom learning. It provides access to a wide range of quality resources that complement and extend classroom learning across all curriculum areas. Working in partnership with teachers, our Heads of Curriculum and Library Teacher Aide carefully selects materials that enrich units of work and inspire a deeper understanding of key concepts. The library fosters critical thinking, creativity and a lifelong love of reading that enhances overall academic achievement.

The Library promotes the importance and love of reading by participating in a variety of reading events throughout each year. This includes Queensland School Library Week, National Simultaneous Storytime, Children's Book Week Celebrations and the Premier's Reading Challenge.

We are proud of the calm and inviting environment our library offers. It's a place where curiosity is encouraged, imagination grows, and every reader can find a story that inspires them.

Library Leaders

Year 6 Library Leaders play an important role in promoting a love of reading and supporting the smooth operation of the library. These students apply for this role as part of our Year 6 Leadership responsibilities. They are selected for their enthusiasm, responsibility, and commitment to helping others.

As Library Leaders, they assist with a range of tasks including organising and shelving books, helping students select and locate reading materials, reading books to our younger students, assisting library staff in a variety of ways and maintaining a welcoming and orderly library environment. They also help promote library events such as Book Week, National Simultaneous Storytime, a variety of reading challenges, and author visits.

Through their leadership role, students develop teamwork, communication, and organisational skills while contributing positively to the school community. The Library Leaders take pride in being role models who encourage others to read, explore, and enjoy all that the library has to offer.
