Middle Park State School has successfully implemented a 1:1 iPad Program for many years. iPads have been used as a tool to transform learning across all subject areas for our students from Year 2 onwards.
In 2022, we moved to a model where Year 2-5 students continued to bring their own iPad to school but Year 6 students instead moved to bringing a laptop. This change has allowed for a strong transition to high schooling where laptop proficiencies are expected. In essence, students are purchasing a high school laptop one year earlier, ready for the start of Year 6. We will continue with this model for 2025.
The following documents have been revised for the 2025 school year to encompass both laptop and iPad use. The 2025 Parent MOU BYOD Program link should be accessed and completed by all parents/guardians who intend to send a laptop or iPad to school in 2025.
Families with a suitable device already at home are welcome to use this (see minimum specifications for both iPads and Laptops). Where a new device is needed, these can be purchased from any office, audio-visual or department store. Additionally, we have set up vendor portals listing suitable models with the following companies:
Learning With Technologies (LWT) - Laptops and iPads portal
Learning With Technologies (LWT) - Flyer
The School Locker - iPad portal
The School Locker - Flyer
Please note you are under no obligation to purchase from either of these retailers.
Headphones are also to be purchased to match the chosen device. We prefer overhead and wired headphones (no Air Pods or earbuds).
We urge families to purchase devices early as there can be low stock numbers coming from overseas creating lengthy delays.
Extensive information about both our Laptop and iPad Programs can be found under the appropriate headings on this page. If after viewing these files you have further questions, they can be directed to: byox@middleparkss.eq.edu.au
